Overview

Albion station will be rebuilt and upgraded to support future interchange demand in Brisbane's inner north. Once complete, the new Albion station will be a key rail-to-rail interchange station for the inner northern rail network providing accessible, safe and convenient passenger transfers.

Providing better accessibility and connectivity

The new Albion station will provide enhanced customer amenity and modern station facilities. It will also provide cross corridor community connectivity and improved customer experience, safety and network efficiency.

It will link with the surrounding Albion precinct through multiple points of entry via lifts and stairs. The station will be connected by a main entry located on an elevated southern concourse (over the rail near Albion Road) and a northern overbridge (providing access to Hudson Road and Mawarra Street).

The new Albion station features will include:

  • 4 straighter, wider and raised platforms, with shade cover
  • an elevated concourse at the southern end of the platforms, with opportunities for a high-quality public domain that provides accessibility across the rail corridor
  • a new station building with customer facilities including lifts, stairs, shelters, fencing, wayfinding and signage, lighting and CCTV
  • a new pedestrian overbridge at the northern end of the platforms and access connection to Hudson Road and Mawarra Street
  • reconfiguration of the rail corridor, infrastructure and systems
  • kiss ‘n’ ride
  • bicycle storage facilities.

The TOD Developer will deliver an updated park 'n' ride integrated with their development plans and the new Albion station.

Walking network plan

Infrastructure for people who walk and ride bikes is an important part of planning for stations. This gives people options for how they travel to Albion station from the local community and nearby streets.

TMR is creating a walking network plan as part of the New Albion Station Project, to help understand the primary and secondary walking routes in the area to reach the station.

Community input will identify key walking routes, safety concerns, potential locations for road crossings and seating, as well as areas that can be improved. The walking network plan will also consider the needs of people using mobility devices such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, canes or walking frames.

It will focus on connections to important local destinations such as schools, shops, medical centres, public transport stops and community places within up to 2 kilometres of Albion station.
