Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is assessing the safety and efficiency of intersections on Gympie Connection Road as well as the Noosa Road and Tin Can Bay Road (Brisbane Road) intersection.

The intersections being investigated on Gympie Connection Road include:

  • Horseshoe Bend and Stewart Terrace intersection
  • Old Maryborough Road and Stewart Terrace intersection
  • Butler Street, Banks Pocket Road and Bath Terrace intersection.

Have your say

The project will assess the safety, traffic efficiency and capacity of the intersections now and into the future, including facilities for pedestrians, bike riders and heavy vehicles.

TMR is undertaking detailed traffic analysis at these locations now that the Gympie Bypass is open, and traffic on the network has stabilised and adjusted to the new environment.

Feedback received from the community including technical data and road design standards, will inform the priority, timing and need for short and long-term safety treatments at the intersections and funding submissions for future construction.

Submissions close 18 April 2025.
